Do you ever get tired of living in spiritual shallowness? Do you ever feel the tug on your soul to just be right, live right and stay right with God? You should…if His Spirit lives in you! In the heart of every child of God, there is a hunger to be close to the Father. We may not always do what we need to do to be close to Him, but our spirit is grieved and joy departs from our lives when we live according to our flesh.
We need a conscience for the Holiness of God in our every day life.
“Lord, I want to be set apart...for You! I don’t want to be like the rest of the world." Is that your desire? How do we get to that place of blessedness? Here is where we separate the women from the girls.
I Peter 1:15-16 “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
If you ever plan to get out of the pit of spiritual shallowness then you must separate yourself from the things that can defile you. Ahhh…there’s the rub. There are professing Christians today who want forgiveness of sin so they can go to Heaven, but they don’t want to accept God’s call to separate themselves unto Christ alone.
Ladies, I would like to challenge you to spend a few moments in self examination. Allow yourself to really be honest with what you see in your mirror. Don’t run from this challenge. Don’t stop reading…please continue…
Holiness of heart without holiness of life is an oxymoron.
You can’t have one without the other. “…so be ye holy in all manner of conversation..” This speaks to our lifestyle, the way we live and all of our choices. Is Godliness seen in your manner of living?
Here is the problem:
1. We have too many professing Christians with a bigger appetite for the things of the world, than for reading their Bible, going to church or witnessing to others. There is so much to want and desire in our world and that appetite never seems to get satisfied. This kind of woman is not living a holy life. She is filled with the desires of selfish flesh and becomes offended when Light is shined on the problem. My heart just grieves over how easily some professing Christians can get offended when their worldliness is called into question. Ladies, that ought not to be for women who profess to know Christ and desire holiness!
2. Some Christians really don’t want to live too far from the standards of the world. “Set apart” means that it’s not the same! Things are to be different! Our lives are not supposed to be the same as before! When we said we were willing to take up a cross and follow after Christ, that indicated that “CHANGE” was about to take place. Has it? Have your appetites changed?
3. What about your music? Do you still click into the world’s music from time to time “just because you always liked that song or style of music”?
4. What about your fashions? Are you borrowing looks from the world that make you look trendy and worldly? The world does have “a look”, but ladies who desire holiness don’t want that look! If we are honest with ourselves, the world’s look hardens a woman. It’s meant to do that, but we should not desire “that look”. Examine your clothes, jewelry, makeup and body language. Are they too tight, too trendy, too revealing, to attention getting, too gaudy, too much, too harsh or too sensual? Look at the people in the world who have that same look. Ask yourself the hard questions ladies….who are the people who wear “that look”? Is that what you really desire? If so…you have a spiritual problem.
Holiness in the life is unmistakable! Personal Holiness comes through the Person of Holiness! We are trying to imitate Him! I can’t be holy on my own….I need Him! Only when I walk in His Spirit and follow His Word can I live that Christ filled life.
That is what I desire. That is what I crave!
I don’t want to be satisfied with anything less than the Christ-filled life and I hate with a passion, when my flesh rises up to get in the way of that pursuit!
It all boils down to our willingness to surrender to the righteousness of God. If you’d rather have your worldly fashions, alluring, sexy looks and follow after the trends of the world for your hair, face and body, then please don’t call yourself a child of God. You are nothing like Him. A Christian woman is not to be full of herself. We are to exude the Spirit of Christ-likeness.
I John 2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
Don’t be satisfied with spiritual shallowness…

Very timely for my personal life. It is a lonely life to strive to live for Jesus and according to His standards on a daily basis. So few seem to really want to follow Him. I praise the Lord for people like you who are willing to take time out of your busy schedule to write encouraging words for the time in which we live.
Standing in His Grace,
Lael Anne Succo
I love you for writing this. I printed it off so I can have it with me to read alot. What a blessing. Thank you...Dianne
Thank you Lael Anne for your kind and gracious words. I remember with fondness almost 30 years ago, how your young heart was bent on knowing God's reality in your life. Don't ever change. I'm glad you found us on the web. Stay faithful dear one... We miss you still!
Thanks, Mrs.Shaffer - I do crave for more closeness with the Savior in my life - but I often come short when my desire to be close to Him is drowned out by my desire to please myself. Thanks for the reminder - I don't want to be like I used to be!
