Have you ever thought about the motives of your own heart? If we would allow ourselves to sit down and truly evaluate what drives and motivates us, we might be really surprised at what we see. What is….in your heart on a regular basis?
Each one of us knows
the personal frustrations of our own heart.
Why do we tolerate on-going heart attitudes that are unbiblical and
stifle unity and feed estrangement with others?
“The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not
intermeddle with his joy.” Proverbs
14:10
Why is something so
awful allowed to persist in the heart of a professing Christian?
Our hearts can be the
dwelling place of something very powerful.
They can be full of destruction and wickedness or they can be havens for
healing and help for others. A
backslider will become consumed with his own feelings and opinions on a matter
and a spiritual woman will find herself with a peaceful heart and mind because
she is not living by her own notions, but rather by the Word of God. One heart…can be filled with so many things
that can either help….or hurt.
What’s in your heart?
Do you have an
angry heart? “The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good
man shall be satisfied of himself.” Proverbs
14:14
“He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: …..” Proverbs 14:17 Quick
angry reactions are the works of a foolish person. They reveal you to be unwise and fleshly. Are
you known to have a short fuse? Quickly
hurt and offended? Are you quick to seek
self-justice and angry when you don’t get it?
This kind of heart is seriously lacking in Christ-likeness and needs to
seek help from the Great Healer of hearts.
Is there someone
you secretly despise? Too many women
secretly despise others. You are sinning
when you do that. It’s one thing to have
an opinion about a person but when there is no mercy and no desire to make it
right or reconcile your opinion with the truth….you are in sin! How can a woman who calls herself a Christian
continue to despise a fellow believer and say she is walking before the Lord
with a clean heart?
“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and
everyone that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of
him.” I John 5:1
“He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: But he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is
he.” Proverbs 14:21
These powerful issues
of the heart should never be ignored. They reveal what we really are. They
also hold back the power of God and quench the Holy Spirit’s effort in drawing
people to Himself. This is extremely
serious….
“Do they not err that devise evil?
But mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.” Proverbs 14:22
We are wrong to
conjure up false or judgmental accusations against another. When you think of others in a merciful way;
mercy and truth will come to you!
Are you quick to
get angry? When the heart has been
devising wicked imaginations against someone else, they will be very quick
react to and quick to justify their responses.
“He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is
hasty of spirit exalteth folly.”
Proverbs 14:29
A woman who is slow to get angry shows her spiritual mindedness and
wisdom. She is reflecting the mind of
Christ. One who is quick to get angry
shows her foolish nature (which is carnal) and she is encouraging foolishness.
What’s being hidden in your heart? Let’s not be afraid to take a closer
look….for Jesus sake.

This is so good. How can I expect to enjoy heaven with a fellow christian that I can't get along with here?
