Sometimes our temptations and trials come at us in multiple ways. They can come from the realm of the seen and from unseen sources. What are these ways?
Direct attacks: Satan can and will use people to distort comments or actions and what should have been a molehill of a problem, gets magnified as if it were a mountain offense.
These times can be very hurtful and if you are not Christ focused, Satan will cause you to zone in on the assault and then on the person who was used to discourage and defeat you. You are easy to defeat then! This is an awful pit to have to crawl out of.
What should you do?
1. Determine to keep your eyes on the One you are serving. Think like He thought toward His attackers. Even the perfect, sinless Son of God was verbally slandered and many of His words were distorted too. What did He do?
I Peter 2:23 “Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself - TO HIM that judgeth righteously.”
2. Just commit yourself to the One you are endeavoring to serve. Surrender the anger, the frustration and the disappointment to Him! Let Him fight this battle for you. Claim the peace of God in the struggle. Rest in the Lord. Prayerfully, give it over to Christ. Refuse to be judgmental or angry.
3. Learn what you can from the assault, but don’t put your focus on the hurt, the injustice or the person who brought it all about. Do try your best to resolve the conflict in a loving way, but don’t attack back. That is not Christ-like. If the other person doesn’t want to discuss the misunderstanding in a Christ-like manner then there is nothing you can do, but pray for them and make sure you have a pure heart, free of judgment or anger toward the offender. You can love the unlovely. Christ did! We were the unlovely that He gave Himself for.
In order to be Christ-like, you must live a Christ-life.
4. Think His thoughts. React like He would react. Love your enemies like He loved His enemies. Commit yourself everyday to just pleasing the Father. You must know that you are striving to walk in holiness. When the attacks come (and they will), you can handle them in power of the Holy Spirit of God.
II Timothy 3:12 “ Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
A woman that is dead to self, self will and outside hurts, can go on and live the Christ life with joy and gladness!
Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
I will claim Christ in me and me in Christ and be free of the pain and bondage that direct attacks can have on me. My victory is in Christ and Christ in me...is the hope of glory!

Thank you Mrs. Shaffer I needed to hear this. This is very good and oh so true.
Thank you so much, Mrs.Shaffer. The Lord always know when we need something and how to find it if our eye's and heart are open to the Holy Spirit. This is something I have been struggling with for a long time. I knew what to do but I just needed to hear it. Again thank you so much for this insight and the hard work you all put into it. I pray God will continue to bless this part of your ministry.
I really needed this right now! I praise the Lord for meeting the need of my heart today. Thank you Mrs. Shaffer for the help you shared here. I've seen you practice this many times through the years. You are an encouragement to me.
This is what I needed, too, or rather NEED. Thank you for sharing what God has taught you over the years. It is special to not only be reminded and encouraged with this truth, but to hear it from a laday who has put it to practice and found God's Word true! Thank you!
