Have you ever stopped to ponder the power of your perspective? We all have one. Every action and reaction that we express is guided by our personal perspective. How we "see" things is fed and influenced by something or someone. In our heart of hearts, deep in the soul of who we are, every one of us has chosen to be influenced, guided and controlled by "a perspective". That perspective has molded our opinions and convictions about everything in life! Nothing meanders aimlessly through our thoughts, without affecting our emotions and daily decisions. Our perspective influences everything in life, from people to preferences.
What a powerful thing perspective is. What a dangerous thing perspective is! It can take us from contentment with the ordinary, to total discouragement in the midst of blessing. It can change a family relationship or life-long friendships, from respectful and loving to cautious and remote, all in a moment of time..... influenced by...perspective. People leave scriptural churches because of a change in perspective. It could be our own perspective or someone else’s that changes how we see people or situations in life. Every honest woman knows that her emotions and feelings can affect her perspective. She then, in turn, with her 40,000 words a day, can influence others toward Biblical thinking or away from it. As we grow older, it is critical that we have a solid foundation for what we think and why we think what we think!
Biblical thinking doesn’t just happen because you call yourself a Christian. Biblical thinking is a lifestyle pattern of thinking that we must choose to think by. It is a very limiting way of thinking. It is a disciplined way of thinking and it is a truly peaceful way of thinking about people and situations. God’s promises are true.... "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee." Isaiah 26:3 Why does the Bible give the warning that it does in I Corinthians 15:33? "Be not deceived; evil communications corrupt good manners." It is letting us know the dangers that can come our way when we casually allow unbiblical influences and perspectives to have an inroad into our thinking. We take vitamins for our bodies but we need Biblical mind treatment for our thoughts. Your joy depends upon it. Healthy, spiritual relationships depend upon it.
How do I maintain a proper Biblical perspective?
1. Eliminate "feelings" thinking.
Philippians 4:8-9 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do :" (and then what will happen?) " and the God of peace shall be with you."
2. Examine our "core".
Take a close look at the real woman that we are. What does our "core" look like to God?Luke 6:45 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." Our perspective tells a lot about us dear ones.... Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he....."
Finding and maintaining the joy of the Lord and a right perspective, starts with Biblical thinking. If you want a blessed and victorious Christian life....examine your perspective. It will either defeat you or uplift you. Outside of Biblical thinking, of which Philippians 4:8 so clearly speaks, you will find no joy, no peace, no right relationships and no blessings from the Lord. You will find much double mindedness and mixed up emotional thinking. This is not a happy place to live dear friends.
Remember dear ones....a Bible that is falling apart probably belongs to a woman who isn’t!
